Celebrating 25 Years!

September 22, 2009 was the day marking my wife Debra and my 25th Wedding Anniversary.  We got married out at Addison Oaks, so it was only fitting that we had our 25th Anniversary luncheon out at Addison Oaks. Dan Shaw (Manager of Oaks Management) set up a table for two in the small banquet room facing the courtyard where we said our vows.  He then proceded to bring us a five course five star lunch.  It was truly an incredible time which also brought back many fine memories.  My friend and photographer Mike Guimond of MG-Photography was also gracious enough to come out and take some great pictures of the two of us a couple of which you see below, thank you Mike!  Before leaving I asked Dan to reserve September 22, 2034 for us to celebrate our 50th at Addison Oaks with another luncheon.  Thanks to all the staff out at Addison Oaks for making this such a memorable occasion.  Just another day in the life of a Michigan Wedding Videographer!

Wine Tasting at Meadowbrook

Had a great time tasting the wines from Michigan at Meadowbrook.  Joining Debbie and me were our friends Randy and Corrine and Mel and Marilyn.  I also ran into Donald Coe and his wife Mary Lou the owners of Black Star Farms, they were running their booth.  Debbie and I met them last year at a wine tasting at The Royal Park Hotel.  I converted some vhs footage from the winery for them and put it on some dvd's.  They invited us up to their winery to spend the weekend at their very own B&B.  Black Star Farms is considering hiring me next year to create an inspiring video for their website.  Let's hope!  Anyways a good time was had by all.  Just another day in the life of a Michigan Wedding Videographer!

Petruska Pie Party 2009, A Big success even with the Rain!

Wow!  What a party!  Steve and Jill Petruska hosted their 6th annual Pie Party.  About 200 guests attended and each family brought a pie to share.  A Pie parade through the house, Cotton Candy, Snow Cones, Karaoke and the event was catered by Famous Dave's BBQ, whew!  What a night.  Everyone had a great time and I was impressed with how many people did an excellent job singing Karaoke.  One of their guests sang a Led Zepplin tune and he knocked it out of the park!  Awesome!  I'm already marking my calendar to attend the 7th annual!  Just another day in the life of a Michigan Wedding Videographer!

Today Terry White and I had the honor of participating in the Sweet 16 Birthday Party of Kiara Williamson.  Terry did the still photos and I did the video.  Kiara is such a sweet and energetic young girl and we could tell their was a lot of love in the room to go around to everyone involved.  Our hearts go out to her and her loving mother Anitra and father Daniel who have done a wonderful job of raising their daughter.  Kiara effected us in such a great way that she will forever be in our hearts.  You go girl!

Hi everyone and thanks for your calls of support.  Foster Braun and Cal Carson called me and interviewed me on the concept of my new off-shoot company called MixnPixels.  The interview was on Saturday August 1st at 5:30 pm.  It went just ok, I'm more of a behind the camera type of person, but I'm grateful for the opportunity.  Thanks Cal and Foster it was great being on your show!  Just another day in the life of a Michigan Videographer.

3-D Blue Ray on TV at Home?

I picked up the movie "My Bloody Valentine 3-D" Blu-Ray DVD at my local Block Buster store yesterday.  I wanted to check out how good a 3-D movie would be watching it at home on my 50" HD LCD TV I have at home.  I've seen some awesome 3-D at IMax theaters and wanted to compare the two.  Note that I also had to pay .15 cents each to buy two pairs of 3-D glasses to watch the movie. (which was fine)  Now at most 3-D movies if you take off the glasses you can't watch the screen, it is real blurry, that's just how 3-D is.  But when watching the Blu-Ray movie at home you can watch the movie in 2-D (regular) without the glasses on or slip on the glasses and watch it in 3-D.  Also watching it in 3-D with the glasses on the movie became mostly black and white with slight colorizations except the 3-D objects were in full color.  I would rate the experience about a 6-7, it was fun but the 3-D objects did not come out of the screen as far as it would in a theater.  The 3-D object would come about 2-3 feet out from the screen where at the movies it comes all the way out to your nose or at least you feel like you can reach out and touch it.  Hey it's only the first 3-D to come out to the public for use at home, I'm sure they will perfect it.  They say that one day all tv will be in 3-D without having to use the glasses.  Enjoy!  Just another day in the life of a michigan wedding videographer!

Dan & Jocelyn Have a Baby Boy!

Congratulations to Dan and Jocelyn Moellering.  Proud parents of a baby boy named Owen.  Jocelyn is the daughter of Ric and Julie Pierpont, great friends of mine.  Ric and Julie own a video production company up north in Petoskey called what else, Pierpont Productions.  Ric and I have worked on projects together for the last 20 years.  Jocelyn shot 2nd camera for me for some of my weddings a couple of summers ago.  Her dad taught her well, she is a great shooter!  Best wishes from my family to yours.

Adobe After Effects CS4 Training Seminar

On Thursday June 4th I attended a Training Seminar for further education using the Adobe software After Effects.  This is compositing software used to put together still or video images "on Layers". This is used to ad "special effects" to a still photo or video.  The instructor was Cassidy Bisher from Drop Drop Studios.  The event was sponsored by MIVA - Michigan Independant Videographers Association and was held at the beautiful Royal Park Hotel in Rochester Michigan.  A great time was had by all and each person in attendance learned many new techniques and tips.  Just another day in the life of a Michigan Wedding Videographer!
