I picked up the movie "My Bloody Valentine 3-D" Blu-Ray DVD at my local Block Buster store yesterday. I wanted to check out how good a 3-D movie would be watching it at home on my 50" HD LCD TV I have at home. I've seen some awesome 3-D at IMax theaters and wanted to compare the two. Note that I also had to pay .15 cents each to buy two pairs of 3-D glasses to watch the movie. (which was fine) Now at most 3-D movies if you take off the glasses you can't watch the screen, it is real blurry, that's just how 3-D is. But when watching the Blu-Ray movie at home you can watch the movie in 2-D (regular) without the glasses on or slip on the glasses and watch it in 3-D. Also watching it in 3-D with the glasses on the movie became mostly black and white with slight colorizations except the 3-D objects were in full color. I would rate the experience about a 6-7, it was fun but the 3-D objects did not come out of the screen as far as it would in a theater. The 3-D object would come about 2-3 feet out from the screen where at the movies it comes all the way out to your nose or at least you feel like you can reach out and touch it. Hey it's only the first 3-D to come out to the public for use at home, I'm sure they will perfect it. They say that one day all tv will be in 3-D without having to use the glasses. Enjoy! Just another day in the life of a michigan wedding videographer!
